Anne Coulter and Elitist Worship
I don't know about you, but if I were picking someone to be a SCOTUS Justice, I would stay as far away from the elitist, Ivy-League schools as possible. It doesn't take excessive book knowledge to make common-sense decisions. Often, when individuals who are considered intellectual scholars, they tend to have their common-sense skewed by elitist ideology.
I prefer hillbilly justice to Ivy-league justice.

I agree that we should stay away from Ivy League schools when finding our public officials. After all, it didn't really help our president any.
Or the previous one, either.
With the track record the Ivy-Leaguers have had lately, maybe we should ban them all from holding any government office.

I have to say I'm still on the fence with Ms. Miers. I worry that Ms. Miers could very well go the way of "Justice" Souter... But then any nominee could go "that" way.
This appointment is extremely critical. There is no guarantee, though it is likely, that Pres. Bush could get as many as two more opportunities to stack the deck-- so to speak --but that's by no means a foregone conclusion...

Still, I'm willing to adopt a "wait-and-see" stance on this one. As to Ms. Coulter, she's only speaking her mind with her usually degree of "in yer face" bluntness. She's worried too.

The ""Justice Souter Syndrome" is what gets me. The very reason we got a "Justice Souter" was because he was unknown to the president who nominated him. With Miers, we have a person well-known to the president. While I don't agree with everything Bush has done, I feel alright about trusting his judgemeny on Miers.
