This morning, while watching Washington Journal on C-Span, I started seeing a humorous pattern. Caller after caller called in to express their wish to bring the troops home and send Bush and Cheney over to finish the job in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Obama is a failure as Commander in Chief!

They know it...can't bear to come right out and say it...but because they are liberals...their words reveal the truth of the matter despite themselves!

Up-Up and Away...in Glenn Beck's Baloon

Anymore, when I picture Glenn Beck, I visualize an imaginary YouTube clip of the popular propagandizing populist on some dark city-park corner motioning to playground patrons calling out, "Hey little kids, wanna go for a ride in my big pretty baloon?"

A modern-day pied-piper of sorts.

There is such a tremendous following of this guy, Beck, and it boggles the mind to see how so many people are getting on his bandwagon. Good people. Genuinely concerned Americans who love their country and want to make sure it stays free! They're all getting on-board the beck balloon, piling on in great numbers but...they're not riding in the basket with the current King of Cable News...they are the balloon!

As Beck continues to promote himself...because any reasonable person can see that is exactly what is going on...and as good-intentioned people continue to view him as the leader of the resurgent conservative movement, the whole weight of the movement itself could very easily fall on the shoulders of Fox News Channel's most recent golden-boy.

And that's not good for the movement.

Beck is not in this to be the leader of any movement. He's in it because he's riding the wave of popularity as far as he can ride it before it breaks over him and crushes him to bits...if he dares to even ride the wave out (more likely, he'll bail-out on the movement before braving the tide).

And where will that leave the obviously resurgent conservative movement as it blissfully drifts upwards like a pitiful political balloon filled with Beck's hot-air?

Crashing to earth in a terrible, deadly, confused heap!

A Walk in the Wilderness

For the past couple of months I've been posting at my new blog, Daddio's Dark Side. I've learned a few facts about liberals and will share them.

1) Liberals tend to work in packs...like dogs. Of course, if you've read this blog, you'll know that I've made other accurate comparisons between liberals and dogs.

2) Liberals are cowards (probably a reason they run in packs). When they are away from their circle-jerks, they like to stop in and leave generalized statements using profanity anonynously. (Yeah, those are the folks we want to agree with politically, right?)

3) Liberals want people to believe they are compassionate while they entice others into sin which can only bring heart-ache and ultimately death (Very compassionate, don't you think?).

4) Liberals will delete your posts and lie about what you post to make themselves feel better after being faced with cold, hard truth.

5) Liberals are adamant about victory....in the '06 mid-terms and the '08 presidential election. They crave defeat for America in its noble war on islamofascist terrorism.

6) The so-called "Christian" Left is in reality only a segment of society steeped in piousness, dishonesty, and worst of all--deception. (But hey, we already knew that, didn't we?)

Now the Episcopalians are rejecting the Word of God as a draw for searchers of truth and offering U-2 as an alternative in order to attract younger new-comers. The minister actually passes ear-plugs out to those who request them!

A Day at the Ozark Folk Festival!

What a day! Music, games, onion-blossoms, and lemonade! Fiddles, and fiddlers. Two-steps and jigs. Go-carts and hoops and paddles. Hillbillies and city-folk all joined together in a celebration of Ozark culture this weekend in Mountain View, Arkansas, home of the Ozark Folk Center.

My family enjoyed the festivities, greatly, as did everyone else who converged on this small mountain village over Easter weekend. I got to sign a petition for an independent hopeful for the Arkansas governor's race. My kids happily did the rock-climbing thingy. Our family took our frustrations out on each other on the go-cart track in a brutal battle of driving skills, complete with broadside t-bones and spin-outs. We listened to old-timers playing folk tunes, whippersnappers skillfully playing bluegrass, and a lot of contented folks , old and young, applauding the efforts of those playing the instruments and singing the old songs of the hills.

If you ever get the chance, plan a weekend trip to the Folk Festival one year, You won't be dissapointed. Music is being played in every nook and cranny on the vintage court-square as well as in the multitude of RV prks in and around town. There are various theaters who have organized shows with regular casts that never cease to thrill those hungry for old-style entertainment. There is truly something for everyone at the weelend event.

Come visit our part of the world! We'll leave the light on for you!

I have tried three times to post some photos, but Blogger is fighting me, tooth and nail! Gotta get ready for Curch, so I'll try to get them up later.

Dowdy-girl is at it again. She has written "The Rummy Mutiny", which praises the recent accusations from six of the thousands of active and retired generals from the US military.

Mutiny: open revolt, esp. by soldiers or sailors gainst their officers.
rebellion, revolution, insurgency,rebel, rise up, disobey, subvert, agitate.

What a legacy for those "noble" few who have differences with the Bush-administration.

Most mutineers were hung back in the days of the HMS Bounty. Let's build a scaffold on the mall!

These leftovers from the Clinton administration are in open revolt against our truly noble war-effort. They are involved in an open insurgency against our leadership. They are aiding and abbeting our enemies with their whining. Let's hold them accountable!

Remember The 9/11 Celebrity Fundraising Special?

I can remember watching the 9/11 fundraiser on the tube a few days after 9/11. Remember Cheryl Crow? The Boss? How about Neil Young?

Niel Young is my focus. My memory of Neil Young on that night is of a man so blown out of his mind--probably heroin--that he could barely stand much less perform. Do you remember that? Didn't he almost fall down or something? I can remember the other performers around him during the finale of the show purposefully standing apart from him. Do you remember that?

He's in the studio producing a self-described "anti-Bush" protest song using a 100 member choir. The song is entitled, "Impeach The President". One of the choir members said that her recording session was like a "12-hour peace rally".

A good video would be to have 100 members of the unhinged Hollywood crowd dress up in choir robes and pantomime to the choral parts.

Anyway, I guess "Let's Roll" doesn't apply anymore. Oh, well!

Lessons From Dr. Sanity

I just found this site and wanted to share it with you. I've linked it on the side-bar as well.

The post linked would be a good bookmark to use as a quick reference. He lists commonly used fallacies and how they are employed. I felt kind of (cough, cough)er...umm.. guilty as I read the piece. Though I try to refrain from ad-hominems, sometimesI just can't help myself. Especially if I have already become a victim (happens ALL the time) of my opponent's ad-hominem attacks.

I do use fallacies as I visit around--sometimes even on this blog, of course. Most of the time I do so because I'm just too darn lazy to write ten paragraphs to explain myself. Most of the time my fallacies hit home and someone attacks my character of which they know nothing but that I am diligent in my sworn duty--making leftists look in the mirror.

Rummy vs The Capitulating Comrades-In-Arms

General Batiste, one of the recent dissenting generals who are calling for Rumsfeld's firing or resignation, was quoted as saying that there is no coordinated effort to oust the formidable US Secretary of Defense.

The capitulating comrades-in-arms statements over the recent weeks were "absolutely coincidental", he said. "I have not talked to the other generals".

I believe him! Not that this "sudden clamor" is "happening for a reason", as Batiste stated. The "sudden clamor" for Rummy's demise has been on-going since Rumsfeld took his place as SecDef! They can't stand him because he is honest, straightforward, and brutal to an ignorant main-stream media. The "reason" it is happening is obvious!

Batiste hasn't been talking to the other generals because the Democratic strategists have gone to each of them a compiled a plan of attack.

I believe him!! LL believes Major General Batiste! Whoodathunkit?

He hasn't talked to the others. He's executing the orders given by a Democratic party which puts it's political ambitions above America's need for victory in the war against Islamofacism.

There are two fronts to this war. The physical battlefield, itself, and the political battlefield back home. Dissent is one thing. Whistle-blowing is one thing. Following orders from a Democratic hierarchy that puts its own immoral and irresponsible agenda before the safety and morale of our troops fighting a war they unshakeably believe in is quite another thing. It's very questionable--VERY questionable!

There should be an ARMY of inestigative reporters checking on any connections these generals have to Democratic strategists! But there won't be. WE all know there won't be......(sigh!)

Rummy is Game

Rumsfeld is game! I LOVE to watch him field the questions of liberals! I LOVE to hear him when he gives precise, articulate and accurate answers! I LOVE to see how the left HATES his guts, because he is so VERY professional!

He is Game! This VERY smart (and sly) patriot is NEVER flustered unless you count his obvious disdain at the questions from an idiotic media! He is well prepared to meet the harassment of an enemy that is both in awe and in bitter battle with him!

In my lifetime, there have been few who impress me the way that Donald Rumsfeld has. Ronald Reagan was, indeed, a great man.....(who amazingly was picked as the greatest American by the Discovery Channel's audience). I believe that history will one day put our present Defense Secretary on that lofty pedistal, as well!

Wagging the Camel--Chasing Her Tail

I love it when Maureen Dowd has an op-ed column published! I really enjoy reading what she has to say. When she writes using her superficial knowledege on a subject, I enjoy it even more. Mind you, whenever she writes about "Bushies" or the war in Iraq, she uses nothing but superficial knowledge.

Think about her most recent article's title: Wag the Camel. What does that actually mean? I figure it must be her attempt to utilize the hair-brained "wag-the-dog" attribute that most liberals assign to Republican administrations. It's funny she didn't use the "dog" analogy. Especially since her columns about Bush and the war tend to display the fact that she is chasing her own tail. Wag the Dog? Dogs chasing their tails? Did she use the "camel" thing because your humble LL has brought attention to the fact that the left is doing just that (chasing its tail) when it uses hindsight and speculation to undermine the war effort?

Probably not, but it is amusing that after I made my post about tail-chasing last week, Dowd changed "wag the dog" to "wag the camel"

They can run, but they can't hide. (Because they're not running anywhere--just going around, frantically, in circles)

Maureen Dowd has great writing ability. Her problem is that every negative thing she writes about the Bush administration is based on pure speculation and liberal hopefulness.

It encourages me to know that so many people flock to read her columns. It reaffirms my belief that the left is treading water--better yet, chasing its tail. They have nothing concrete against the "Bushies".

It's also amusing to know that Dowd and those who worship her every word think that they are really on the hunt when, in fact, they are doing what dogs do when there's nothing else to do!

LL's Filesharing Apology (Revisited)

This entry was originally posted on 6/28/05. As I have just downloaded the complete album "Animal Magnetism" by the Scorpions, I felt I should revisit this post.

Yesterday's ruling against filesharing got me to thinking! At one time, I had a collection of vinyl LPs over 500 strong! Over the years I have lost many of them to moving, scratches, theft, etc.. I spent a lot of money, as a young man, on my collection! Much of my lost archives are either no longer available, or impossible to find. I have longed for years to hear some of it again!

A few days ago I downloaded software that allows me to find some of those lost "treasures"! I made a commitment to myself that I would only download and keep items which I have purchased in the past. In this way, the software would enable me to get back that which I have lost, while allowing me to explore music and artists that I might never encounter. Already I have found music that I intend to find and buy!

What rights do I have? If I have paid for a studio LP in the past, shouldn't that give me the right to have and listen to that music for the rest of my life? If I continue going to concerts and financially support the real owners of "intellectual property", shouldn't I be forgiven for downloading a file which contains samples of their work?

I have replaced many of my old albums by finding versions on Compact Disc. I intend to restore a small portion of my lost collection by downloading it from others who are willing to share it with me!

Prosecute me if you MUST!

God spoke to my heart today. What a glorious thing!

I was doing a little surfing earlier and got to pondering the similarities with our present generation to that of Noah and Lot. The differences are few.

I must admit, when I considered my family and the husband and father I have been to them I became quite humbled.

I am no "Christian" though, mercifully, I am a believer! I have been miraculously born-again--have been for many years. I am, however, NOT Christ-like. I am more like Lot.

When are the angels coming? Are they already here? Or is the precious prophecy from the Word of God the only warning to our generation?

These are the times we've all heard would come but were not sure whether or not to believe it!

I didn't watch the National Geographic documentary about the "Gospel of Judas" last night. I haven't read anything about it until today. I have heard all the hype over the last week or so.

When the New York Times does a piece on things Christian, one has to approach the message with REAL skepticism. The New York Times does not stand for truth. They don't stand for morality...fairness..tolerance!

The National Geographic Society? They have perpetuated the myth of evolution and worship flawed "science"!

I've only recently started to pay attention to the words of "Father" Jonathan Morris. I came across a wonderful article he wrote on the immigration issue last week. Today I found this article about the "Gospel of Judas". This guy is worth paying attention to and I intend to seek his columns out to read from now on.

These times we live in are the times that those of us who became Christians as kids remember the preachers talking about--The end-times when Christians would face great persecution from un-believers.

Judas was to Christ what the left is to America today. He went along for the ride and when the opportunity arose he selfishly attempted to destroy his righteous master. America and Christ are gathered in our own Garden of Gethsemane. What is the left up to during it's absence from our nation's present reality?

Boom-Boom and the Lefty

The third round of the Masters finally ended this morning after rain delays yesterday. I was excited to see the great field that would be playing over the weekend. I'm now on the edge of ny seat, eagerly awaiting final round coverage this afternoon.

Boom-Boom has not let me down. Tiger is on the prowl within easy sriking distance. Larry Mize is only 4 shots back! Heck, the whole FIELD could potentially win the tournament! There are only three players with a lower score than MIze.

I have a six-pack of Fosters on ice. My remote is ready beside me. I can't wait to get off the edge of my seat, extend the foot-rest, twist a top, and enjoy the final round of this year's Masters Tournament.

There are probably a lot of folks chasing Maureen Dowd's tail. But the thing that is so funny to watch during the left's present attempt to make something out of nothing, is how they are chasing their tails like dogs! Think about it!

Over the last couple of years, leftist morons who have no clue as to what is really going on have repeatedly jumped on the bandwagon when they think there has been a chink in the Bush administration's effective armor.

I remember Dubya saying that he would fire anyone who broke the law concerning the "leaks" surrounding the Valerie Plame situation. What a brilliant maneuver!

George Bush's administration has managed to out-do the left with his fantastic use of twist-speak! When he said that he KNEW that there was nothing illegal that took place! He KNEW he wouldn't have to fire anyone because he KNEW that he had declassified the information in question.

The next time we see a clip containing his promise to hold the law-breaker responsible we need to keep in mind that he is probably laughing inside.

When I offered this idea on another thread, a liberal pointed out that I sounded as if I were proud that he out-did the left using twist speak. My answer?

Since he did it for the right reasons and since it made the left chase its tail again so wonderfully, I said "YEP!"

Maureen Dowd has written a column entitled "Divine Right of Bushes". I admit I haven't read it. I can say without reading it, however, that it is full of shallow blame. I can say that Dowdy-girl was quirky, entertaining, and laughably wrong.

Maureen Dowd is chasing her tail again! Woof, woof!

NBC's Muslim Mission

Illegal Immigrant Deserves Citizenship!

I just watched a segment on The O'Rielly Factor about Claudia Muro, a nanny who spent two and a half years in jail over an accusation by the parents of the child she took care of based on a 4 frame per second surveillance camera--a "nanny cam" they call it, who was recently released.

This woman spent TWO-AND-A-HALF years behind bars for doing nothing but playing lovingly with this couple's child. The tape, only NOW having been reviewed by the prosecuters in the case, has proven that to be fact. When keeping in mind that the device only recorded FOUR FRAMES A SECOND, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this was nothing more than a childcare provider bonding with her charge--NOTHING MORE!

She spent TWO-AND-A-HALF YEARS, people....YEEEEAAARS!

Now she faces immigration hearings after being released from jail. Her visa had expired when the dreamed-up incident occured.

If any illegal immigrant deserves a second chance, this is her!

The parents still believe the tape. They have refused to even review the analysis that prompted Claudia Muro's release from jail.

Shouldn't they be held responsible?

I've got a great idea! I believe I know a way to convert Democrats to Republicans! All that has to be done is to somehow link C-Span's phone systems and call-in lines to the election commisiion in each state. When a person calls in on a particular line it automatically registers that person as a Democrat or Republican depending on what line they call in on.

Lately there have been a slew of "Republicans" calling in on the Republican line and denouncing the president. Anyone who watches the show regularly will know that these folks are really Dems converting themselves into Republicans.

Bob Parks HIts the Nail On It's Head

I've just listened to Bob Parks' most recent blog-cast on the immigration issue that is gripping the nation. He brings up a wonderful point that I have thought about writing about before but have yet to do. I'm doing it now.

The immigration problem America faces is really concentrated on our southern border with Mexico. Yes, I know there are illegals who cross the border to the north. Yes, I know that there are many who come into the country illegally by sea. The fact is that the vast percentage of the illegals in our country gained acces throught the soouthern border. The Americans who are witnessing and involuntarily supporting the invasion force coming from Mexico are those who live in the south. They live in the southern states which either border or are adjacent to states that border Mexico.

The point Bob Parks makes and of which I agree, is that there will never be any significant change until politicians in NORTHERN states experience the problems of these southern states brought on and perpetuated by the lack of enforcement of current laws and the flippant attitude of those who do not have to experience those problems in their own back yard.

I have a feeling that if Mexico bordered us to the north and Canada to the south, it would be the liberal shmucks in the north who would be crying "bloody murder" about the immigration PROBLEM.

Problem is, they don't see immigration as a problem.

Out of sight-out of mind.

I've said before, there are not any good answers to the immigration question. I doubt there ever will be. There are laws. Laws that have been broken. Laws that have not been enforced. That's where the real problem lies.

American Idol and Kenny Rogers--Not a Perfect Match

Kenny Rogers was the song-coach this week on American Idol. I realize Mr. Rogers' contribution to music. I don't recognize his value as a producer, however.

All but a couple of the performances were flat and boring. All but those same two were bad song -choices. A third was acceptable.

Katherine McPhee will win, I've already went out on a limb--though only a little way--and predicted that.

She will be paired with Chris Daughtry--already predicted--for the final.

Elliot will be a close third and as his stage presence improves may prove my predictions--both of them--wrong.

In the mean-time, call the doctor! I'm burning up with McPheever!

Cause I'm....hot blooded, check it and see! Got McPheever of a hundred and three!

The best performance of the night was Elliot's rendition of Garth Brooks' "If Tomorrow Never Comes".

McPhee missed a perfect opportunity to really shine in this week's country theme by picking a Linda Rondstadt tune like "You're No Good" or "Blue Bayou". I hope Linda Ronstadt dawns on her sometime during the competition and she actulaay does one of those two songs. Tonight she sang a song entitled "Your Bringing Out the Elvis in Me". I'd never heard of it. She did it well. Her sexiness along with her awesome voice made it a good performance.

Chris Daughtry, though out of his element somewhat, managed to show that he has the skills and voice to slow it down and sing a pretty ballad.

I fear for Taylor Hicks this week. Of all the country songs suited for his voice and style, he chose to sing a John Denver hit. Not a wise choice at this point in the game.

Boring show this week. I think this may be the last season if things don't liven up a bit on the show.

Maybe they could have Barry Manilow back for a show. His instruction was brilliant. The show he coached was the best all around show I've been able to see during the Ameican Idol run. Mr. Rogers needs to perform, record, then go home and watch "Law and Order" or something.

It is a still.

It's a few hundred feet behind my house.

The previous owner of my house and his dad operated it during the 60's and 70's.

There is--believe it or not--still a long strand of black-plastic waterline that runs from the back of my property to the still.

I thought it was interesting and I had to share it with someone.

One of my oldest and best friends was raised on top of the next hill and can remember seeing the smoke rising from the woods when it was operating.

I can remember my own dad telling a story about how some of our cousins in the next county blindfolded him and led him to their still when we were home visiting one summer.

Stills are operating in the county even now. Now and then I even come upon someone who has a jug and have a sip or two. Some of it has been really great quality. Some of it hasn't.

So, there are still stills (heh,heh,) in these here hills!

Larry and Shemp Do the Big-Easy (The New Stooges)

Last year I wrote a piece about the high-stepping comedy team I refer to as "The New Stooges". It seems Larry (Al Sharpton) and Shemp (Jesse Jackson) have led their flocks on a march to demand that everyone displaced by Katrina gets to vote--wherever they may now reside--normally at special satellite polling places around the country. One has to ask--knowing the comedy-team's opening theme music for their shows ("Three Blind Mice", wasn't it?)--if this is not a perfect example of the blind leading the blind.

Really, how many of those who have settled somewhere else or are still in transition from their plight would actually vote anyway?

2000 showed up for the march. Close to 250,000 are thought to still be "displaced" (I use quotes because one has to wonder how many of those folks have decided to reject the Big-Easy and start new, fresh lives elsewhere).

Bill Cosby was there imploring those that participated to reject the murdering drug-dealin culture that existed there before the disaster happened.

At least there was one voice of reason in the crowd!

This is just a ploy by the stooge-brigade to create a situation enabling the left to manufacture illegitimate votes.

Recent months brought evidence of a growing new trend among the leftist Hollywood elite! First Russell Crowe and now Naomi Campbell (third time, actually) find themselves in big trouble for assaulting someone with a cell-phone. Naomi beat her domestic worker with her cell-phone using it like a small club. Russell turned his communicator into a missle which he launched across the room at a member of the "media".

Should Sarah Brady be calling for demonstrations supporting some sort of waiting period for cell-phones? Hmmmm..............

I mean--THINK about it! Cell-phones are used for terrorist activities. Cell-phones are notoriosly used for drug transactions. Cell-phones are being used to detonate IED's in Iraq and could potentially be used for that purpose here in the states. Racist Democratic congress-people use them against Capitol Police for goodness sake!

I met a british family a couple of months ago on a weekend getaway with my better-half. He began to tell me how minorities--especially Muslims--have taken over their country. His wife, with her children at the breakfast table with us, actually told us she believes England is headed for civil war because of it. Minorities' rights trump those of native Britons.

If our leaders make being or aiding an illegal alien a felony...what are we going to see, then?

There's a lot of answers concerning illegal immigration. Unfortunately, there are not any that are very good ones.

This planet is in the midst of globalization. I don't believe that genie can be put back in the bottle.

From One Extreme To The Other-Rant Turns To Rave!

Another night on The Fox Network. American Idol--Barry Manilow and Bye-Bye Chicken-Little (good luck, Kevin!)--followed by the newest cut-throat reality show, Unan1mous, proved to be interesting. I hadn't planned to watch this latest version of World Championship of Liars. However, when Kevin Covais' farewell croon was interrupted, I wasn't quite ready to get up and head to the bathroom, or get another Red Stripe out of the fridge so I sat there....and...watched it...Sigh!)

At first I thought it was just another run-of-the-mill revelation of man's unworthy condition, but as I watched....I....became.....how can I say it...HOOKED!

Only 28 minutes aired of the experiment, but it was intense. The producers went to great lengths to pick the participants. The cast is complete with different ethnicities, women both pretty and not so much so, men, likewise, young and handsome , old and fat.Then there's the token fag (this one chubby and militant), and a middle-aged black lady who is a vocal Christian with a few pretty strange beliefs.

At first I was skeptical, of course. But as the show progressed and the complexity of the game became more clear--and I honestly cannot say it IS clear as yet--It became pretty intense.

Let me set the stage for those of you who didn't tune into the show. Nine people are taken underground to what the show is calling a "bunker". It looks like Dr. Evil's headquarters in one of the Austin Powers flicks. They are seated at a round table and told that they will be playing a game for 1.5 million bucks.

Sounded good to the lot of them--smiles all around.

By poll, they would have to unanimously choose who would win the prize--a player is not able to vote for his/herself.

Frowns and eyebrow-raising all around--some breaking into evil grins, the middle-aged black Christian zeaolot decided she would be fine because money didn't matter to her. She quoted the Bible, in fact, filthy mammon and all. A pretty, young blond said something like, "I just don't think I was built for this".

No-one can leave until a unan1mous decision is achieved.
If any person decides to leave the game, the money is immediately cut in half.

More eye-brow raising and large intakes of breathe.

Enjoy yourselves, you'll be voting in a little while.

Dazed, the nine milled around as if stunned. Then the fireworks started. Fag flaunted his sexuality with the usual disregard for others feelings militant fags tend to display, and vocal Christian Lady attacks! Before it was over, lolly-pop boy is in middle-aged black woman's face, towering over her (as much as a 5ft 6in or so robust frame can tower, anyway), finger jabbing. The lady made a drastic tactical mistake--she told him he would go to hell if he didn't repent of his gayness. Wrong move, wrong move, wrong move. She not only put herself in a bad position, but her inability to back her religious positions with logic produced the effect intended by the producers of the show--she gave ammo to mocking liberal secularists.

Let me say this. I've believed for decades that one day, probably in my lifetime, I would be witness to persecution of Christians in this world and in our nation. It's coming to pass, folks. There is a real effort by the determined left to demonize Christianity as most of us know it and attempt to weaken the power of Christ, himself.

Mind you, it doesn't scare me--quite the contrary, it excites me!

Getting back to Unan1mous--when the vote was made a few minutes later, it was, of course, not unan1mous. No-one was really surprised.

Now you'll vote someone out.

Eyebrows and all that!

Mr. Gay-Punk-and-Proud was hopeful.

This "vote" was not actually a vote but a box of envelopes containing secrets about the lives of every contestant. Some were bad, some not so bad. They would read three randomly and anonymously and were to choose which was the worst of the three. The indescretion's generator (contestant), if chosen as worst, would be eliminated from the game.

Gay-boy's heart visibly sank before the cameras. Middle-age lady preacher's eyes widen in apprehension! I laughed. We got a game goin on here, now!

Here's the three indescretions:

1) The contestant had filed bankruptcy with combined income of over $100,000.(Lady Zealot)

2) The contestant had been detained twice before for posessing live ammunition.

3)The contestant had served time in a mental institution.

The episode ended as the group was discussing the secrets and were about to pick the worst of the three. We'll have to wait til the next episode to find out, I guess.

I will be watching! This may prove pretty interesting.

Barry Manilow-A Real Class-Act!

This week's "American Idol" featured music from the fifties arranged by the great Barry Manilow.

As an eleven year-old, I loved listening to "Mandy". I can remember listening to his music a lot as a teenager. By the time I got to be a junior in high-school, however, I had become a die-hard rocker. I began to loathe his music--as good as it was.

When I was stationed in the UK in my early twenties, I can remember watching one of his concerts on whichever BBC station was showing it (The Brits ADORE him). This was around the time AIDS was first being publicized and also when it was well-known Barry Manilow was gay. I despised him even more, while admitting that I really enjoyed the concert. It WAS a good show as evidenced by my remembering it these many years later.

For some reason I thought I had heard he had died of AIDS back in the mid to late eighties. For years I was under this..er...umm...assumption, I guess? Then, to my great surprise, a few years ago I saw him interviewed on one of the morning shows.
I was shocked!

Over the years, I've realized how stupid I was to have dismissed his talent because of what I thought of him as a man. Even when I thought he was dead and buried. I'm glad he's still around.

The interview I saw made me realize what a great artist and professional this guy is and has always been. The segments on "American Idol" showing his leadership and insight while dealing with these budding artists made the whole show worth watching! I can say, after watching the full season from last year and parts of the previous seasons, last night's show was overall the best show, musically, I have seen. I'm sure it was because of Mr. Manilow.

He's a class act--there is no doubt! Thanks, Barry for the songs you write that make the whole world sing! He may be a pervert, but the man is a genius!

I'm looking forward to his performance on the elimination episode tonight.

What Is It With Fox?

The Fox Network really pisses me off at times. Not only because of the filthy content that fills most of the regular line-up, but for the way they disregard children in the audience.
I've already voiced my anger at Fox News Channel for running the erectile disfunction drug commercials over and over and over again.
Tonight, while my family was watching American Idol, they ran a spot for some news magazine show on the FOX 5 out of NYC. The story they were promoting was about child-prostitution. The language, during early primetime no less, was graphic and inappropriate for childrens' ears.
It pisses me off, greatly. They didn't have to run that commercial while a family program like American Idol was airing. It is very irresponsible!

Sorry, Katrina Victims, I'll Not Be Helping During Spring-Break

I'm a college student now...well a junior college student, anyway. Many spring-breakers this year, thousands in fact, are volunteering their time and energy while sacrificing the good time they could have had a little farther right along the Gulf-coast.

I'll not be attending. If a victim asked me to help them clear some land out at a safe distance inland I might go...or at least praise those who do.

It's absolutely rediculous to help people rebuild their homes at the exact location where Katrina wiped them out, don't you think?

These "do-gooders" are contributing to higher insurance rates and future massive government bail-outs. I don't want to be a part of that.

I've been noticing a phrase that seems to be catching hold among the anti-wa....I mean the anti-Bush left. You may have heard or read it as well. It is as follows:

"...now that the truth is coming out..."

I only discovered and began using the internet as a soap-box a little under two years ago. Along the way, as I voiced my own thoughts and opinions, I have repeatedly accused the left of distorting and politicizing every act of the present administration at the expense of the security and well-being of our nation.

Presently, liberals are basking gleefully in the shadow of poll numbers that show Dubya 's support at its lowest. They joyfully explain the polls as evidence that the "truth" is getting out.

Is it really?

What truth?

The "truth" at the forefront of Bush era liberal revisionism is the one that says the administration knew there were no WMDs in Iraq before the invasion. This is the "truth" that is coming out which is in support of the "truth" that says Bush misled the nation into war.

How about the torture "truth" that inflamed Iraqis and sparked an on-going season of beheadings and kid-nappings.

We must accept the "truth" that Iraq, under Sadaam Hussein, was not a threat to the US.

"Truthfully", Iraq did not encourage or take part in international terrorism against the west (including the USA).

Personally, my favorite "truth" is the one that says that the Iraqi people were better off under the rule of Hussein.

Here's a very interesting "truth": The Bush administration orchestrated the events of 9/11.

How about the "truth" that says that the NSA illegally eaves-dropped on American citizens.

A sobering "truth"--Bush is Hitler!

Then there is the "truth" that Iraq is inevitably headed for civil-war.

You remember the "truth" when Dan Rather and his crew exposed it on CBS during the '04 presidential campaign, don't you?

Then there is this "truth": Supporters of Bush's oil-war are glad to send other people's "children" off to fight but won't "send their own children".

We must not forget the "truth" that Dick Cheney attempted murder upon his friend on a Texas bird-hunt.

Recently I've read the "truth" touted concerning Iraqi civilians--women and children. It seems the children of Iraq are being murdered by the President of the United States of this here America!

George W. Bush caused hurricanes Katrina and Rita....and that's the "truth"!

It also seems that the "truth" is that America deserved the acts on 9/11.

We can't forget the "truth" of Casey Sheehan's "murder", can we?

A "truth that cannot be ignored: The Iraqi people don't want us there.

The "truth" is, George W. Bush invaded Iraq to avenge the assasination attempt by that country's leader on George H. W. Bush.

Here's the "truth": George Bush doesn't care about poor black people.

A major "truth" that has been revealed is the fact that the main-stream media is biased toward the right!

The honest "truth"? Maureen Dowd is a good journalist--so is Paul Krugman and Thomas Friedman.

You know what? I believe the TRUTH is coming out! Liberals will stop at nothing to have their immoral and irresponsible form of government forced upon reasonable, peace-loving, freedom-cherishing Americans.

It grieves me to see America putting stock in the "truth" of a left which not only lies, but lies in the act of accusing others of being liars.

Rediscovering Reggae!

Yesterday I went searching for an old tune on my PSP network. Remember "10 CC"? I found the song I was looking for plus one I had forgotten about (my Store-bought cassettes melted on the dashboard years ago). The song was "Dreadlock Holiday" or you may remember it as "I Don't Like Reggae". I downloaded it as well as the other and when I listened it inspired me to hunt for some real reggae bands I used to listen to often. A couple of the old Bob Marley songs turned into a playlist of several bands which includes my favorite--Black Uhuru!

I had forgotten how much fun reggae truly is. I love American Blues so my love of Reggae is only natural, I guess. Getup! Swing your arms! Walk in place!

America's problems could be solved if our government declared a week-long Reggae Festival. We would all come out united in ways we couldn't imagine!

In light of the growing cries from the left comparing the President with Hitler, I think it would be good to list the similarities between the left and America's enemies.
I'm hoping you might list some of your own in the comments. I'll start it off with the latest revelation.

Today a Fox News reporter was ridiculed by the Iranian Ambassador when he asked the diplomat: "Why do you call the leaders in Washington, 'warmongers'"? Other reporters joined in laughter as the ambassador berated the reporter and his employer.

So, we now KNOW that the left in America are in line with one of our top threats. Is that revealing?

My kids and I stood out in the misting rain on Election Day '04 across the road from our town's main polling place with signs that read: "US Troops Support Bush, Alqaeda Supports Kerry, Which Do You Choose?" You may have seen the photo on the blog last year.
There are many more similarities. I'll let you have some fun with it.

Gid Waterfall

I've had my weekly dose of Ozarka today. It was a sweet fix. My spirit is soaring.

This morning I watched "National Treasure" for the first time ever. My family rented the DVD last year but I was blogging and never watched it. It was with that feelng of adventure and history that I left when my road-running buddy came and picked me up in his Jeep this morning.

Years ago, this same friend and I, along with two others, went to a site deep in the hollows near old Lafferty Creek. We hiked down a deep draw, stopping awhile at an awesome shelter cave that spanned the draw. There was much evidence of habitation--the natural shelter was well-suited for stone-age families. There is a hole in the roof of that cave which allows the water from the draw to fall into a pool at the bottom and run out of the cave to continue on its way. From memory, I would say that the area of covered protection was some 500-600 sqare feet. I didn't go to that sight today--not enough time (or energy). I did go to the object of our adventure that day long ago, however--the Gid Waterfall.

Gid was an early community in Izard County Arkansas. It was only a few miles up-creek from the first settlement--Lafferty. I don't know much about its history. I've asked the landowner and a few old-timers from the area about the old community but no-one seems to know much. I've researched a little and found the same. I intend to do a little more research.
I do know that there was a grist-mill at the site. One of the reasons I love the place so much is that it reminds me of my youth, walking across ruin-strew hills on the island of Crete. I can't be sure, but I believe that the ruins in the photos are those of the old grist-mill. I'd really like to know more about the history of the place.

The waterfall, itself is 30-40 feet high (I've never actually measured it), and though not lively at this time because of near drought conditions in our area, the fall can sometimes stretch across most of the precipice at the top and much of the time slides like two wide ribbons across the moss-encased limestone. It's fed from a spring high up on the hill and runs all year long. Because of this, I have seen the waterfal in the full grips of old man winter. Once, I hiked through the snow with some others to see the waterfall. In close to zero weather the water channels through encrusated ice at the top splashing onto a 5-6 foot frozen mound at the bottom. The walls of the cliff behind the fall is layered with frozen spray. It was quite a sight--I actually have some shots I took with an old PENTAX 100 years ago, buried in some album.
I hope you enjoy these shots. I love sharing the hills where I reside. Now I have a better camera. I don't know the best settings on it yet, but I'll figure the thing out sooner or later.

Blogger Boycotts

I know this isn't an original idea. I'm sure I've heard of incidents where a large group of internet-users on one side of an issue has flooded a web-site in order to censor it somehow. What about a blog-based community doing the same thing on a smaller scale? Couldn't some of us link arms from time to time and go to specific blogs just to get our own message apart and hopefully piss-off the opposition a little?

It seems like it could be a powerful tactic to me. Even smaller groups with common ties in blog loyalties could have significant effect.

I downloaded this tune the day before the levee actually did break in the Big Easy. I didn't listen to it until the next afternoon while I was sitting around probably doing almost exactly the same thing as I'm doing now--blogging. I had been watching The Weather Channel for two days as Katrina approached the Gulf coast. I was well aware, that there was a real possibility of a levee breach. I had watched as the population of the coast fled in anticipation of the storm's wrath. I began to exhale as the hurricane seemed to have passed by the city of New Orleans with minimal damage. Tapping the keys on my keyboard, the television was on across the room as I launched the song on my player and began to listen. While I listened, I glanced up at the tube and saw a live feed coming from a chopper-mounted camera showing the 9th ward flooding.

There were some tapes released yesterday and offered as evidence that "Bush lied, people died". Journalists, foaming at the mouth, knees jerking uncontrollably, decided to spin the "new" revelations in the way they always do. Katrina and its aftermath was all Bush's fault. When the dust settles it will be clear that the tapes tell a different story.

The leftists want the world to believe that because Dubya didn't ask any questions of local leaders that he was not informed as to their needs. Chertoff, the one who probably deserves the lion's share of federal blame, was responsible for asking those questions and informing the president. To say that our president was not engaged and didn't care about possible consequences of the storm is utterly laughable.

I've got to ask--What could George W. Bush have done differently that could have saved New Orleans from the tragedy that befell it?

Then I've got to ask--What could Nagan and Blank-o have done differently that would have saved their own crown-jewel from the trajedy that befell it?

I believe if you rendered these two questions logically and put them on a set of scales you would find that the blame lies almost SQUARELY on the local leaders.

Michael Brown deserves an apology from the nation starting with the president and ending with the sheep who accept the crap the MSM wants to throw at them.

Why Conservatism is Vital

Whaddayaknow? (Something's Still Working)

When "Portgate" burst upon the media scene, I was at first appalled as everyone else in the country MUST have been. Oftentimes, in the past, I have been starled with new information such as this and as in most of those cases, this time I refrained from jumping to any conclusions until I had a bit more information. This seems to be a wise course of action.
The Democrats, in their brainless attack on the plan, came very close to letting the world know what opportunity-seeking hypocrites they really are. It was the bad-old conservatives who rescued the Democratic leftists from being percieved as racists by letting the rest of mankind know that it is not Arabs we are wary of, but Islamic terrorist enemies of freedom.
What is truly awesome about the way this story has unfolded is that the rest of the world sees that our form of government here in the good-ole USA still works from time to time. SOMETIMES the people and the politicians actually agree on things--our nation is doing the right thing by taking a deep breath before signing off the operations of our major ports.
Recently, the folks at Arkansas Times wrote a piece in their Arkansas Blog criticizing Arkansas Gubenatorial candidate and ex-Homeland Security Department big-wig Asa Huthchinson for staing that it is wise not to make hasty conclusions about the port deal. Sounds like the next governor of Arkansas has a lot of wisdom. Looks like the liberal loonies at Arkansas Times don't.

Mary and Maureen

As Mary Matalin appeared on NBC, today, to Meet the Press, the press (Maureen Dowd, David Gregory, Tim Russert) met Mary Matalin.

It was inspiring to see Mary Matalin, wife of Democtratic Commentator (Press), policy-designer (opposition party), and operator (political assasin), James Carville, carve up her rabid opponents on today's edition of Meet the Press concerning last week's vice-presidential non-crisis accidental shooting incident. She showed America and the world what ingnorant fools the left-wing press are.

Dowdy-Girl could not compete with Matalin's simple, truthful anwers and explanations as to why the hunting misfortune was really a non-story. She continued to attempt to paint Cheney as "secretive" (quite a laugh coming from an admirer of the Clinton administration-remember Vince Foster?). Her hatred for the truth and her desire to make something out of nothing was blaringly apparent as was her comrade-in-arms, David Gregory.

Russert showed a clip of Hillary Clinton's political rant adressing the non-story. Billary also accused the vice-president's office as being "secretive" and "non-disclosing". Shouldn't somebody call her on that? (Remember the shredded documents from "Whitewater"?)

Shows like Meet the Press and Harball with Chris Matthews encourage this old libertarian; they herald the left's unreasonable and unquestionable insanity.

Winter Arrives in the Ozarks

It's not the first snow of the season; it's the first significant snow of the season. After three days of record temperatures in our area, winter came to rip the hint of spring from the air. Us'n heelbeelies cain't rightly belly-ache none, though-we've barely had any weather resembling winter so far this year.
The snow is good for the earth. The cold is important for us natives of Ozarka to anticipate our wonderful, colorful spring-time.

The First is a shot of Piney Creek from one side of the tall bridge near the original county seat-Athens. The second is a view of Pilot Knob through the trees on Jumbo Road. The third is an image of the White River Valley at the little settlement at Boswell. The fourth is a shot of Piney from the opposite side of the bridge mentioned in the first shot.
These hills are beautiful all-year round. There's something special about them during each phase of every season. I hope you enjoy these images.

Hear the shrill whistle blow. Notice the fantastic plume pouring from the heated stack, drifting slowly down to lie along the endless parallel ribbon of track. Listen to the steady rythym of the heavy steel wheels striking the joints in the rails. It's the train we know as "America" moving steadily forward, having left the confines of oppression a fur piece back down the line. There have been many twists, turns, and jolts along freedom's path in its march of progress, yet progress, indeed, has occured.
The progressive movement began in earnest during the latter part of the 19th century . It was a time when citizens started to fear big business and corrupt politicians. Powerful corporations were gaining power over individuals by monpolizing industry, commerce, and employment opportunities. Following the American Civil War, Americans were attempting to rebuild their hopes and dreams.
"Progressivism", a term that left-leaning champions of irresponsibility have borrowed (or would that be stolen?) from liberty's giants such as Theodore Roosevelt, is much like a disengaged parent who let's its children hang out the window of the carriage, run up and down the isle, and generally do their own thing.When some concerned travelling aquaintance comes to report the children's reckless behavior in the dining car, the doting mother or father may explain: "They'll be alright". The parent might even offer a rejoinder: "Oh, really?" or maybe, "Are you kidding?". Under their breath or in their self-centered psyche, they might really be saying, "I wish this bitch would mind her own business". Never mind the consequences of the children's actions concerning themselves or others. Lack of discipline and accountability passing from one generation to the next ending in poverty or despair.
The liberal brand of progressivism is not really progressive.
Progressivism, the real thing, understands that individuals have a duty to be responsible while traveling aboard freedom's express. This proper form of the movement, populated by reasonable conservatives, collectively agree that their country should be governed using foresight while using hindsight to avoid mistakes of the past. Faux "Progressivism", the perversion of the just movement, is much different. It uses hindsight to accuse its opponents and ignores foresight while concentrating intensely on the present.
Progressivism seeks liberty within the bounds of personal responsibility towards God and Neighbor. "Progressivism" hungers to justify every incident of instant self-gratification at the expense of the creator they long to deny and the fellow citizen whose own views are disregarded as unimportant.
America is the movement. The great experiment that is America is Progressivism. Having begun, it faces every obstacle with care, attempting to avoid any pitfalls in it path as it makes its way steadily and purposely forward.
"Progressivism" is hardly America. "Progressivism" is France. The mob who claims Progressivism's label is much akin to the murderous throngs of the French Revolution. Eliminating anyone who gets in their way and destroying the very things they need to become free, they end up terror-forming their own world into one led by an unhinged tyrant such as Napoleon Bonaparte.
Today's "Progressives" long to be like Europe when the continent itself is facing tyrannical rule by militant islamic fundamentalists who refuse to conform their adopted nation's rule of law and demand their fellow citizens bend to their own. Deluded Liberals like Chrissy Hyndes say things like: "I hope the Muslims win."

Every train is required to have at least two crewmen. Both are essential for safe operation. The first, important for obvious reasons, is the engineer who controls the locomotive that provides power to move any cars coupled to it. The second, equally as important, is the brakeman. The brakeman is tasked with slowing any excess momentum of the payload in order to keep it from running away or derailing. No train can legally be operated without these two critical components. In America's sojourn of justice, Liberalism leads the way while Conservatism attempts to keep it honest. Progressivism understands this simple fact. "Progressivism" ignores it.
Progressivism honors the will of the majority while respecting the rights of the minority. "Progressivism" demands the will of the minority and ignores the rights of the majority.
In humanity's hunt for liberty, "Progressivism" uses a sawed-off shotgun; Progressivism takes careful aim with it's match-grade sniper rifle.
In American politics, conservatism is not the totalitarian legalism its opponents characterize it as. It is the filter of the liberty all mankind strives to achieve. Neither is liberalism the luke-warm bio-hazardous cess-pool that "Progressives" want to make it. It is the driving force of individual freedom and justice. Regardless of the deep divisions that mainstream media wishes America to have, the vast majority of the nation's citizens fall into an ideological category that is both liberal and conservative. Using the red-blue color scale to describe the differences between yankee ideologies, the USA truly is a purple blend of ideas. Thoughtful, reasonable passengers aboard freedom's express dismiss the fringes of the two as harmful to progress. America, despite the recklessness it sometimes displays, is still a Progressive state as opposed to "Progressive".
While the battered old train of modern lore called "The City of New Orleans" sits humbly on the lay-by being repaired, the venerable old iron horse we know as "America" continues on its unparalelled journey. The fight is on, Like the brave patriots and deluded terrorists aboard Flight 77 on 9/11/01, the passengers are fighting over the controls. Do we really need to go down the path of tomorrow without a brakeman to keep us from plunging headlong into the night?

A new year has begun and for me a new phase of my life. Though I never intended it to happen until recently, I am attending our local Community College. I'm taking a full schedule so between classes, studying, and taking care of the fatherly and husbandly thingies, I should be able to blog a little more.

I haven't decided, yet, what I'll end up majoring in. Computer technology seems to be drawing me towards it therefore I've taken a couple of Geographic Information Systems related courses. I hope to keep my options open to possibly teach in the future.

Washington seems to have been continuing to spin out of control. I've just about got tired of paying attention to it all...but not quite. It's too damn intriguing!

I'm looking forward to exchanging thoughts with some of you, again.

Things are looking up as far as my blogging goes. Though my personal window to the world is still inoperable, It looks as if I will be starting the spring semester here at Ozarka. I plan to gain as much knowledge about computers here as possible before going on to another couple years of instruction at a four-year school. My "major" will be in Geographic Information Systems. Wish this tired old hillbilly luck....please!

I have an old unit at the house that enables me to at least write thoughts down and copy them to a disk, but it seems every time I get a chance to get aboard the net I leave the disk at the house. This week sometime I'm going to put some of it up on the site. I have a good piece written by an "old fogey" student friend who has graciously given me permission to publish. I'll also show the remarks his college instructor added while grading it-very interesting stuff!

Doesn't it make you sick when you hear a Democrat speaking? It does me. I've graduated from despising the treacherous politicians who have done so much harm to our war-effort and our nation by placing political power on a pedestal far above the republic they claim to love.
During the 2004 presidential race I wrote often about the harm that the Democrats were visiting upon our troops and our nation's reputation. America is still the "shining city on a hill" that we have always been. America is still the greatest and "goodest" nation on the face of the earth-prove me wrong if you disagree. What the bastards of the left have done to this great country is sickening.
Two things comfort me and make it a little easier to bear liberals in my daily life-1) That history will prove that the Democratic Party has acted treacherously concerning the war on terror and 2) God will deal with the treacherous, yellow-bellied scum who continue to follow the leaders who run the anti-freedom, anti-American Democratic Party!

Autumn In The Ozarks-Sunday Drive

Went for a ride today. One of the most scenic highways in the state, State Highway 9, runs from our little town to the White River at Sylamore, Arkansas. Along the way there are several scenic pull-offs where panoramic views of the hills and valleys can be viewed. As I've mentioned before, for the past few years this road has attracted motorcyclists and pleasure-seekers who come to enjoy the wonderful views-especially during the fall of the year. What many of these people don't know is that there are many interesting sites to see just off the beaten path. The cave I have shown here is what we locals call "The Clay Cave". Generations of Izard County youth have explored the depths of this cave which extends several hundred yards underground and is loaded with visual delights. The cave is less than a quarter mile down the highway from one of the scenic overlooks and-believe it or not-only a few yards from the highway! Katrina Aftermath (Explained?)

I watched a segement of WJ, this morning, when Ron Waters of the University of Maryland was the featured guest. Dr. Waters has started the African American Leadership Institute on campus.
The last statement he made on the show indicated to me why any "leaders" his program graduates will not be armed with the truth as they go out into the community to lead.

He said (paraphrased): "The state of our inner-cities is due to a situation that is two-fold. First, the whites began moving out. Second the "prominent" blacks moved out. This has left the inner-cities to those who were "left behind" resulting in situatuions like the one after Katrina." (This is a liberal paraphrase but the meaning is absolutely clear)

If his instruction to potential "African American leaders" is based on an understanding like this, he is destined to either fail or at worst create more racial divide. The people in the inner-cities were not left behind-they STAYED behind!
When an individual wakes up to the fact that they are in a place with little opportuniy and decides to do something about it, are we supposed to believe that person is responsible for bringing the rest of the community along with them? Come on, America-people are poor who don't have the motivation to be anything else but poor.

In this "humble" hillbilly's opinion, our governmnet gives the poor incentive to remain poor by providing them with a free meal-ticket and housing. Okay, so many of the poor can't help being poor because of age, health etc. Many more remain poor because they have made TERRIBLE decisions in their past or just want to "mooch" off the rest of us. I think that it would be interesting if the world could know the percentage of those who turly need government assistance as compared to those who are taking advantage og=f the system.
As for Ron Waters and his new Institute, they need to check their map-the road they're following is taking them in the wrong direction.

Ahem! See What I mean? (Miers Withdrawal)

A few days ago I wrote a piece about my view of the Republican "revolution" that took place over the Miers nomination. If you'll recall, every media source (including FoxNews)was reporting that it was the conservative wing of Bush base that was baying like hounds with a coon treed about the SCOTUS pick. Since the de-nomination, however,
polls are telling a different story.
I know CNN is a liberal propaganda source with about as much credibility as "Democracy Now", but I also saw similiar poll results on a poll by FoxNews. I couldn't find the results of the Fox poll but I remember their numbers being even more indicitave of the failure of the media to recognize that the opposition to Miers was from the LIBERAL side of the Republican party. Gary Bauerites and a few others were the exception-not the rule. The "revolution" was a few socially liberal Republicans posing as conservatives and being helped along by...er...umm...media. Most, of course, who happen to be liberal as well. Even Fox bought into the charade!

I remember following a story out of the northeast about ten years ago that covered an image of Christ which had began to grow on a masonry wall outside of a church. After the faint image was discovered it continued to sharpen into a miraculous likeness of the Saviour. People flocked to see the heavenly phenomenon. News outlets took pictures and video-tape footage. Crowds came to ooh and ahh at the revelation! If I remember correctly (and yes, it is a true story carried for days by the MSM)it rained heavily one day during the period while all this was going on and the whitewash covering the miracle wall washed off in many places. One of those places happened to be where a poster advertising a Willie Nelson concert had been attached to the wall.
You guessed it-the MSM covered miraculous manifestation of Jesus Christ. Only a lonesome stranger.
What brought that little memory to the forefront of my thinker was this!

Harriet Miers-Where Bush Went Wrong

I keep hearing the talking heads say that it was the "extreme right wing" of the Republican party that brought down the Miers nomination. But I also heard Dr. James Dobson tell his listeners that she was a good choice. I watched Ralph Reed defending her nomination on one of the Cable networks a few days ago. Just what IS the "extreme right wing" of the party?
I visit a few blogs on my daily adventures. Lately I've been reading those hosted by Republicans or at least vote Republican in almost every case. The way I observed things among the blogs is that it was socially LIBERAL Republicans who were most opposed to this nomination. I also got the sense-from the very beginning of the "rebellion"-that many of the loudest whiners were either known bloggers looking for more notoriety or Drudge wannabes.
I've stated this before, but I must again-there are many things that I think President Bush has done wrong. I supported his re-election because of his stand on the war. I could never have voted for the euro-American, John Kerry and could not have lived with myself if my vote was wasted on the independent/otherworld candidates and the jerk won!
I hate what is happening on our borders-especially our southern one. I don't LIKE the measures that are being explored as solutions by the Bush administration. They don't make sense to average Americans who want to preserve our way of life. But I DO understand that this world has changed over the last few years-changed rapidly, unpredictably. Today that change is only increasing in velocity-speeding off into a...umm...er....yes! A New World Order-it's unmistakeable and unstoppable. The proverbial Genie has been let out of the bottle. The Internet and global free-trade is re-arranging the world as we all breathe. So, as a reasonable thinking citizen who is NOT a Republican but only a man who tends to vote Rebublican, nationally, I can kinda understand what the administration is trying to do with their proposed immigration policies.
I am appalled at the way the President and congress are spending money. How will Republicans ever be able to say they are good stewards of the country's coffers, again? It's for this reason that I'm glad that he's in his last term of office.
However, although I was floored when he named Harriet Miers a few weeks ago and couldn't understand why he did it, I trusted his judgement on the pick-still do as a matter of fact. She wasn't given the chance to face the Senate, so we'll never know whether she was qualified or not. We'll never know what kind of Judge she'll be. We'll never know whether she was a "Scalia" or a "Souter". Which brings me to the point of this rambling post. Where did her nomination go wrong?
Personally, after thinking a while after the announcement, knowing his previous judicual nominations, I thought Bush had made a brilliant political move! I still believe if the loudmouths of the blogosphere had held their fingers back from the keyboard for a few minutes they may have realized this, as well. But those itching for a Senate-chamber brawl did not get their way. So they started screaming, stomping and holding their breath. But this is not what killed the nomination.
What killed the nomination is the President's reaction to the quasi-republican rebellion. HE should have taken a few breaths before promoting his nominee's evangelicalism. Up until the moment he began defending her by revealing her religious beliefs she was sure to be affirmed by the Senate. When he went in that direction it woke up the starry-eyed Democratic Senators who had been charmed by the President's pick-not fatal in itself because the Republicans still had the vote. The most crucial thing that his actions caused was to stiffen socially liberal Republicans' resolve to oppose the nomination. If you'll recall, the abortion issue was never a real issue in this internal quarrel. The opponents cloaked their social concerns with claims of her lack of qualification. They questioned her obvious intelligence. This is what I believe sealed Ms. Miers' fate.

Mr. President, don't blame conservatives for this. Blame the freaking liberals....whatever clothing they may sport!

The Left's "Superbowl" Weekend and X-mas Eve, Too

I've not eritten much about the CIA/Plame/Wilson/Rove story much at all. It's mainly because I wanted to wait and see how things developed. Though I realize that the left has taken this thing and blown it WAY out of proportion, I believe that whoever was involved, IF a crime was committed deserves discipline-even outright punishment.

What has kept me really entertained in the past couple of weeks, however, is the looney left's effervescent approach to a much anticipated and hoped-for indictment to come down eaither today or tomorrow. Political jerks like Chris Matthews cannot hide their glee at the very thought of indictments against Karl Rove or Lewis "Scooter" Libby. Every liberal Democrat in the nation, I'm sure, are watching with eyes glued to the set to catch the breaking news as it comes down.
This may be a week for partying on the left. Two-days ago they partied when announcement came of the 2000th death in the war in Iraq. Today is their X-mas eve. I would guess that there are "Superbowl Sunday" style parties planned among liberaldom if news of an indictment comes down today or tomorrow. Like watching a cage-match in wrestling, they will cheer as the blood flows and the folding chairs are swung.

If Flame/Plame/Wilson was TRULY a covert agent unknown in any circles outside the "Company", and Rove/Libby knew that to be true, and they purposely outed her in order to punish or discredit her husband-they should be prosecuted.
Rove is a very smart guy-I imagine Libby is, as well. I doubt that two brilliant political strategists would purposely out a covert intelligence operative under the intense scrutiny of an adverarial press and a vicious political smear machine!

While the wackos are speculating, I'll be waiting to hear the facts.

Miers Withdrawal-One Step Forward, Two Steps Back?

Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination to the SCOTUS. The White Huse claims it is due to their unwillingness to release executive branch documents to the Senate for review. This is a good excuse but probably not what the real reasons for the withdrawal are.
The real reasons might be:

She decided she'd rather open an adorable little dress-shop in the shadow of the Reunion tower in Dallas.

She couldn't stand the thought of meeting with one more freaking Senator leading up to the confirmation hearings.

She knew she would have trouble under the scrutiny of both conservatives and liberals.

Because ideologues bullied her and the president into making her decision.

Personally, I think that the documents were an excuse and ideologues bullied her and the president into it. It may come back to haunt the ideological "conservatives", thus it may haunt reasonable conservatives, as well. If we have been robbed of a good logical-thinking conservative on the bench and end up placing a turn-coat there instead-I will be extremely annoyed at those pundits and conservative charade-masters who brought it about by their unreasonable opposition to Ms. Miers!
On the other hand, If the new justice turns out to be a common-sense legal genius who understands the real role of conservatism, I will shower loads of praise upon their efforts which will have resulted in that scenario, also!

All that said, I can now say....Wheeeeeew!

And....Sigh!

"Political correctness gone mad" does not EVEN describe this growing phenomenon! I lived in the UK for three years in the early eighties. I find that American society, today, is much like British society was back then. This makes me wonder if my state's most recognized and adored mascot has its days numbered.

Taking On The Syrian Challenge

Yesterday, on C-SPAN, the Syrian Ambassador to the U.S., Imad Mustapha, appeared on "Washington Journal". He gave a challenge to America-request an e-mail from a Syrian citizen and see if they are impeded in conversing freely on the internet. I'm accepting that challenge.
Please, if you are a Syrian citizen, living within that country's borders, send me an e-mail or comment on this site. I would very much like to hear from you and discuss your government's role in assassinations of Lebanese officials.
